What Is a Heart Kaomoji?
A heart kaomoji is a text face with a heart in it. Sometimes the heart sits beside the face, like (ᵔ◡ᵔ)♡. Sometimes it replaces the eyes, like (♥‿♥). Either way it says the same thing a heart emoji says, with a little more personality.
Kaomoji are Japanese-style faces typed with ordinary characters, and you read them upright, not sideways. The Wikipedia page on kaomoji covers where they came from. The heart versions are the ones people reach for most, because nearly every warm message has room for one: a thank you, a goodnight, a comment on a friend's photo.
The Six Groups on This Page
The list is sorted by what you want to say, so you don't have to read all sixty. Cute faces are everyday happy ones with a small heart. Love and kisses are for a partner or a crush. Holding and giving faces reach their arms out, which makes them good for thanks and hugs. Heart eyes show you adore something. Shy faces blush or hide, for the times a plain heart feels too direct. Dividers and frames are longer lines with a face in the middle, made for bios and post headers.
What the Different Hearts Mean
| Heart | Looks like | Feeling |
|---|---|---|
| Outline heart ♡ | (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)♡ | Soft and friendly. Safe for anyone |
| Solid heart ♥ | ( ˘ ³˘)♥ | Stronger. Love, or a big thank you |
| Heart eyes | (♥‿♥) | You adore something or someone |
| Emoji heart ❤ | (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ | Bright and loud. Shows in colour |
| Two hearts | ♡(ᵔ◡ᵔ)♡ | Extra sweet, and works as a frame |
If you can't decide, use the outline heart ♡. It reads as kind without being too much, so it suits friends, family and people you don't know well.
When to Send a Heart Kaomoji
Pick the face first and the heart second. The face sets the mood, and the heart only tells the other person you mean it warmly. A shy face with a heart feels very different from an excited one, even though the heart is the same. One heart kaomoji per message is plenty.
| Moment | Try this | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Saying thank you | (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ♡ | Arms out, like handing the heart over |
| Goodnight text | (˘︶˘)♡ | Calm eyes and a small heart |
| Liking a post | (♥‿♥) | Heart eyes say you love it |
| Flirting a little | (⸝⸝ᵕᴗᵕ⸝⸝)♡ | Blush marks keep it sweet |
| Missing someone | (っ˘з(˘⌣˘ ) ♡ | A hug and a kiss in one line |
Need more than faces? Single hearts are on the heart symbols page, and every other kind of face is on the cute emoticons page. To write a name in pretty letters next to your heart, use the fancy text generator.
How to Make Your Own Heart Kaomoji
Start with a face. Any simple one works, such as (ᵔ◡ᵔ) or (。•ᴗ•。).
Choose the heart. ♡ is soft, ♥ is bold, and ❤ shows in colour.
Place it. After the face is the classic spot. One before and one after makes a frame.
Or swap the eyes. Replace both eyes with ♥ and you get heart eyes.

Heart Kaomoji or Heart Emoji?
Both work, and they do slightly different jobs. An emoji heart is one coloured picture. A heart kaomoji is a whole expression made of text, so it keeps the same look in every app and doesn't change with the phone brand. All of its characters come from the Unicode Standard, which is why they paste cleanly.
There is one more difference people notice. A text heart follows your text colour, so on a dark theme it turns white and on a light theme it turns black. An emoji heart stays red everywhere. If your bio has a colour mood, the text heart blends in and the emoji heart stands out. Neither is wrong. It depends on whether you want the heart to be the first thing people see.
Text hearts ♡ ♥
Plain characters. They take the colour of your text and are accepted in most usernames.
Emoji hearts ❤ 💕
Coloured pictures. Some apps and games block them in names.
Heart eyes
Built from ♥ or ♡, so they are as safe to use as text hearts.
Fancy brackets
Faces that use ⸝⸝ or ꒰ ꒱ are newer. Send one to yourself first.
If a heart turns into an empty box, the app doesn't support that character. Switch to a face with the plain ♡ or ♥.
Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers about heart faces, what they mean and how to copy them.
What is a heart kaomoji?
It's a Japanese-style text face that includes a heart, either next to the face or in place of the eyes. Examples are (ᵔ◡ᵔ)♡ and (♥‿♥). It's made of normal text characters, so you can paste it anywhere you type.
How do I copy a heart kaomoji?
Tap or click the one you like and it's copied. Then paste it into your message, bio or caption. If tapping doesn't work on your device, press and hold the face, select all of it and choose Copy.
Do heart kaomoji work on Instagram and TikTok?
Yes. They work in bios, captions, comments and messages on Instagram, TikTok, Discord, WhatsApp and most other apps. A few of the newest bracket characters may not show on old phones.
What does (♥‿♥) mean?
It means you love or adore something. The two hearts are the eyes, so it's the text version of the heart-eyes emoji. People use it under photos, and for food, pets and anything they find lovely.
What is the ♡ symbol called?
Its official Unicode name is White Heart Suit, code U+2661. Most people call it the outline heart or empty heart. Its filled partner ♥ is Black Heart Suit. ♡ feels light and friendly, and ♥ feels stronger. Both are text characters, not emoji.
Can I use hearts in a username?
Usually yes for ♡ and ♥, because they are text characters. Coloured emoji hearts like ❤ are refused by some apps and games. If a name is rejected, switch to the text heart.
What does 𓆩♡𓆪 mean?
It is a heart with wings. The two shapes on the sides are Egyptian hieroglyph characters that people use as wings, so the whole thing reads as a flying or angel heart. It is popular in bios. Older phones may show boxes for the wings.
How do I type a heart on my keyboard?
On Windows, hold Alt and type 3 on the number pad to get ♥. The outline heart ♡ has no shortcut, so copy it from this page. On a Mac, press Control, Command and Space to open the character viewer and search for heart. On a phone, copying a heart kaomoji from here is the quickest way.
What does <3 mean?
It is a heart turned on its side: the < is the point and the 3 is the two curves. It is the oldest way to type a heart, and it still works everywhere, even where symbols are blocked.
